PostSubject: Chroma key masks?   Tue Dec 09, 2014 3:00 pm

I heard editors always do the masks on AE and import it with a color background into their editing program. The only problem is: When I do that, there's a edge of the color left. I would love to do that in Sony, because I hate any type of editing in AE. Only the rotobrush is the thing, I can do XD

NewBlue's Chroma Key Pro doesn't work at my Sony Vegas (it always crashes it - and yes, I have the latest version) and at Boris FX you have to fill out things like full name, organization (even for trial! If I click cancel it says click to finish, but nothing happens) - and besides that it's way too expensive!

Do you have tips or a good chroma key plugin to help me?

Thanks,
Mika

Personally, I don't think Chroma Key works well with animation because it always leaves behind a pixelated effect that you can't get rid of without distorting the mask itself (at least in my experience :/ )

I know what you mean with AE but to get rid of that you can just shift the edge back so that you only have the mask! Or you could pull back the contrast to feather it out, in a sense, only problem with that is that you have to increase the feathering for the contrast to increase as well!

I think it depends on what you are masking, there are certain backgrounds that respond better with little pixelation but many donĀ“t, Its up to you to play with a blurry edge if you want to, I do since I dislike masks that look too out of the picture I place them into, but that is just me XD
